Oh boy, what a week! Good morning Readers!
I am writing this blog post more for myself than anything else as I am not feeling motivated at all right now. In fact I nearly put a notice up that there wouldn’t be a blog post this week. Builders, builders, builders – when will they finish? You are probably more tired of hearing about this that I am! I am working and living at a friend’s holiday cottage where the only way of connecting to the internet is via a dongle (I usually have a stable wi-fi connection) and the dongle is more “off” than “on”. It’s a case of typing up a bunch of emails or doing the work and then frantically trying to upload or send it off when the dongle is “on” for no more than 15 minutes at a time. As you will appreciate this is absolutely no good for a virtual assistant where working is “virtual” i.e. via internet. What to do about it?
This morning I visited our local internet provider who said the dongle had an outdated programme and it was all fixed up only to come “home” again to find it still not working. It’s off at the moment in fact. So frustrating!!!!
These are some of the curved balls we experience in working from home. It’s so easy to go to your employer and to have the IT Department fix things for you but when we work for ourselves we need to handle things like poor or no internet connection.
Then the other thing I’ve experienced this week is potential clients wanting work done and then doing a disappearing act. How hard do we push and how long do we push for? I don’t know yet, but I will let you know soon when I’ve figured it out.
Working from home or “virtually” is not for everyone. If you are reading this blog and trying to decide whether you would like to become a Virtual Assistant or if you are a new Virtual Assistant, you too will have weeks like I am having. This is the time when it is easy to quit and take up full-time employment.
I have written blogs on motivation, persistence, adaptability, self-belief and in fact each week my blog is meant to encourage and motivate. Today I am learning from my own blog posts that I have been re-reading.
Let’s do this. Let’s finish what we started as tomorrow will be better. After all, I’ve done my best today.
See you on line,
