Welcome Readers – lovely to have you here! All comments and observations are welcome.
This is a blog about my personal journey as a Virtual Assistant and at this point, my personal journey has taken me to a small town. You can imagine what a challenge it has been especially as I have lived in a big City my entire life. In the beginning I was extremely homesick and missing my family, friends and MY Mountain (Table Mountain). Yes, I was missing my clients as well. Some of my work, even though I am a Virtual Assistant, happened to be “face to face”. I missed the interaction with my clients. I wanna go home ….. I am home living in a small town and away from the people and familiar sights. I can’t have “yesterday” back again. It is gone. I have today; a brand new day.
First things first.
Shower, dress, make up and off to (no not a small corner of the lounge) my office. Another potentially exciting day. What are we going to do today? My clients are in Cape Town and I have just visited them. My virtual work is a bit iffy at the moment. Regroup, regroup, regroup……
Need to find more clients and to do that need to meet people. In order to meet people, need to be out and about. I make sure that when I go to the shop even if it is around the corner that I look reasonably presentable (one never knows who is going to be in that shop)! I have cold called on businesses within my target market, advertised in a local magazine, sent out loads of introductory letters and am about to join the local Business Chamber. There are no networking groups, so am putting out feelers to start a group.
People ask me “but what do you do all day?” My reply is “there aren’t enough hours in my day”. Somehow time seems to fly so quickly so I have to use my time lucratively and not waste it.
Slowly, one day at a time, my new town is feeling like a place that I can belong to in time. I can even see myself doing business in this town.
What will tomorrow bring? Time will tell.
“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.”
