Year 2 – Week 13 – Organised Chaos

Welcome to this blog post – please let me have your comments and observations – I love hearing from you!

Shower, dress, make up and off to the corner of the lounge! As you know I am busy moving so this involves loads of packing. To give you an idea, we packed approximately 40 boxes just in the lounge itself. Chaos is reigning supreme but it is organised chaos! I am quite relieved to say that I still have a corner of the lounge and that my little office is relatively unaffected by all the packing.

Working from home can be challenging and something to take into account if you are wanting to start your virtual business or are a new virtual assistant. When you go to work each day, you leave your home behind you. When you work from home it is there all day long. The only way to get away from it is when you go out or go for a walk. Would I change this? In a heartbeat I say “no” but it is something to take into account. It is SO important to have a dedicated space to work in. The kitchen table surrounded by ironing is not a good idea and nor is working on your lap on a chair in the sun. Find yourself a corner in your house that you can call your “office” if you aren’t lucky enough to have a dedicated room in your house. At the end of each day throw a tablecloth over your table. This is in effect the same as shutting the door and walking away from your office for the evening.

Here is a picture of my office which is my corner of the lounge! You will also see the shelves containing the art material that took so much packing!

Chaos in the midst of chaos isn’t funny, but chaos in the midst of order is.
