Week 4

Good morning and welcome to Week 4 of the incredible journey of self discovery as a Virtual Assistant.

Back to Week 3’s post where routine was under discussion.   Routine is good.  Routine keeps one grounded.  But … here’s the kicker …   Routine CAN be changed!!!  The old saying:  “A change is as good as a holiday” is SO true!!!   Instead of having tea at 10 am what about 10:30 am?  Instead of having lunch at 12:30 pm what about meeting a friend at the restaurant up the road?   Let’s continue where we left off last week.

You guessed it!  Shower, dress, make-up, breakfast and off to the office in the lounge.  We sit down at the beautiful clean, second hand desk with gleaming brand new equipment and think:  “What now”?  The phone is not ringing (yet), the office is quiet, no coffee’s or tea’s are being ordered, there are no photocopier jams to unjam, no typing, no work!   There is no frantic buzz!

Apart from routine being an issue or not an issue, the HUGE issue this morning is:  “Where’s the Boss”?!

When one works for an organisation or a small business there is always someone in charge.  That someone is the person that makes final decisions on things.  When one works for oneself, the buck stops with you know who!  What a shock.

So, readers, what I quickly did was split myself in two parts (mentally that is).  One half of me became the employee and the other half became the “boss”.

But more about that next week!

See you on line,
Lynne

I was having coffee this morning at a cafe and couldn’t help but overhear a business meeting going on at a nearby table. The meeting consisted of the boss “having a go” at a few of their employees for various minor misdemeanours, and I was so relieved I didn’t have a boss like that any more!
As you so artfully put it, I am my own boss and make my own decisions, the buck stops with me, I have no excuses and I’m so happy because of it 🙂 Keep up the blog, Lynne, I’m really enjoying it!
